JAMMU, Apr 10: Rahul Sahai, Chairman of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) today called on the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and held a detailed and constructive interaction on a range of socio-economic and industrial issues concerning the Union Territory.
Sahai appreciated the visionary appeal made by the Lieutenant Governor emphasizing community-driven efforts, Jan-Bhagidari, and the crucial role of social and religious institutions in combating drug abuse and ensuring a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir.
Highlighting key industrial concerns, Sahai raised the issue of pending applications under NCSS, stating that delays have caused considerable stress among the industrial community. He expressed optimism that the upcoming industrial policy for local industry would address these concerns and provide much-needed clarity and relief.
Further, Sahai drew attention to several pending matters affecting industries, including the need for a comprehensive industrial local policy, resolution of issues related to Gair mumkin khad (land), and lease deed complications. He emphasized that timely resolution of these matters would significantly boost investor confidence and industrial growth in the Union Territory.
Underscoring the importance of inclusive governance, Sahai stressed that greater involvement of civil society in government programs and policymaking processes would enhance transparency, public participation, and the overall effectiveness of initiatives-echoing the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor’s call for collective societal responsibility.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with the Lieutenant Governor assuring continued support towards industrial growth and holistic development of Jammu & Kashmir.
