Rahul hits out at Modi, KCR

HYDERABAD: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao for allegedly not coming to the rescue of farmers who lost crops due to recent unseasonal rains.
Addressing a well-attended public meeting as part of his padayatra at Vadial Village in Adilabad District, he said contrary to election promises to announce support prices for farm produce and waive farm loans Mr.Modi did nothing of the sort. Stating that “there is a Modi in Delhi and another Modi in Telangana”, the AICC leader asked as to why Mr.Modi and KCR did not care to console and rescue the families of the farmers who had committed suicide.
Even one-year after NDA rule at the Centre and TRS rule in the state, not a single job for the unemployed was created,he charged. Mr.Gandhi said that Mr.Modi had promised “aachhe din” (good days) after the elections but instead of keeping his poll promises he (Mr.Modi) goes about with suits costing Rs.ten lakh.
Acquisition bill without harming the interests of the farmers and after ensuring that the farmers got good prices for their lands. But as soon as the NDA Government took over the reins of power, it changed the shape of the bill by not protecting the interests of farmers,Mr.Gandhi said.
He said prices of urban lands located near the cities were going up by leaps and bounds but the farmers were not getting their due share on account of this. Mr.Gandhi claimed the Congress Governments always worked for the welfare of farmers adding the during his party’s regime, Rs.70,000 crore farm loans had been waived and farm loans to the tune of Rs.eight lakh crore given in the last ten years.
He said the Congress Regime also fixed support price for farm produce at regular intervals .
