Rahi represents J&K in National Seminar on Indian Tribes

JAMMU, Apr 7: Well-known tribal researcher and expert on Gujjars affairs, Dr Javaid Rahi represented Jammu and Kashmir State in a two-day National Seminar on Cultural and Literary Traditions of Tribes of India held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore.
Organized by Sahitya Akademi, the National Academy of Literature under Union Ministry of Culture, the progamme was held to discuss the ethno cultural profiles of Schedule Tribe Communities of India.
Dr Rahi presented a detailed research paper on colorful cultural traditions of Gujjars of J&K. He in his paper also drew a comparison of J&K Gujjars with Gujjars residing in 11 other States of India.
He also highlighted the strong mythical tradition popular in Tribal Languages, Literatures and Cultures and presented an account of cultural heritage of Gujjars of northwestern States of India.
The session was presided over by Prof TV Kattimani, Vice Chancellor, India Gandhi National Tribal University, Madhya Pradesh. Appreciating the paper of Dr Javaid Rahi, the Vice Chancellor invited him to Tribal University for a lecture series on Tribal communities of J&K.
