JAMMU, June 22: The folk festival of Duggar, ” Raade” was organised by the Radio Kashmir Jammu in its complex here today.
Radio Kashmir Jammu as its mandate to popularize Dogri folk culture, organised the event in collaboration with Duggar Sanskriti Sangam, Batehda. The function was organized in the premises of Radio Kashmir Jammu, where the “Raade” were planted and decorated. Songs related to `Rut Raade’ festival were also sung by the folk artists.
Station Director, RKJ- VK Sambyal, while extending gratitude to Dhyan Singh, president, Duggar Sanskriti Sangam, Batehda appreciated the performance of folk artists. The painting and music performance was also highly appreciated by the staff and other audience present on the occasion.
This folk festival of Duggar is celebrated throughout Jammu region. It starts from Ist day of Aashad & culminates on 1st day of Sharavan of the Bikrami Samvat. This year the festival started on June 15, with the sowing of Kharief seeds in the pitcher necks which are inserted into the ground and beautifully decorated with natural dry colours.
