JAMMU, Sept 20: To apprise about the problems being faced by the private schools for obtaining recognition / affiliation due to the delay in the approval of Management Committee, a delegation of private schools met with the Joint Director, School Education Department, Gurdev Kumar who has the authority to approve management committee of private schools.
President of the association, Ajay Gupta briefed Gurdev Kumar that on the one hand the School Education Department has extended the period of affiliation/ recognition in favour of all such schools which have been constructed on state land while on the other hand all such schools which are constructed on proprietary/own land are still deprived of affiliation/ recognition since 2023 due to the non availability of only one document i.e. approved management committee.
“CID verification has been made mandatory along with other NOCs in case of change of nomenclature/ location of private schools as per the instructions laid in circular No. 02-SED-2022 of February10, 2022. But considering the owners of all private schools who have constructed the school on proprietary/own land at par with the private schools which have been established by JeI or functioning in rented building by the Education Department is not justified,” he added.
PSA members demanded immediate withdrawal of unwanted provision of CID verification because it is not needed for all such schools which have been constructed on proprietary/own land. They also appealed for extension of affiliation/recognition till March 31, 2026 in favour of all such schools whose affiliation/recognition has expired, on the same pattern as was done earlier in the case of schools built on State land.
Gurdev Kumar informed the delegation that the matter has already been taken up by the Secretary School Education and a proposal to increase the validity of time period of management committee from 3 to 5 years and withdrawal of CID verification is under consideration.
Members in the delegation included Siddheshwar Sadotra, Gourav Charak, Chain Singh, Thomas Omman, Kuldeep Choudhary, Rakesh Gupta, Manoj Kumar, Ram Parkash, Parshant Salaria and others.
