JAMMU, Nov 13: The holy town of Purmandal revered as Chhoti Kashi situated on the bank of sacred Devika river is all set to host the Sthapana Diwas celebrations of the Purmandal Uttar Behni Tirath Sewa Niyas on November 19. The Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha will grace the occasion as chief guest.
This was stated by J&K BJP spokesperson, Purnima Sharma while talking to reporters here, today. She said the event will commence at 4 pm with a Maha Yagya and Devika Mahaarti, coinciding with the auspicious day of Chaturdashi-Saptami. The celebrations will also mark the inauguration of the traditional Purmandal Mela , highlighting the towns centuries old spiritual and cultural legacy, she added.
Purnima said established eight years ago under the guidance of Suresh Ji Joshi, the Purmandal -Uttar-Behni Tirath Seva Noyas has been actively engaged in the promotion of Sanatan Dharma, the development of Purmandal and Uttar Behni and revival of pilgrimage tourism in Devika circuit.
She said the Niyas runs several community welfare and religious initiatives, including free tuition centres, a Ved Vidyalaya for Vedic learning , weekly Havan and Pooja, a tailoring centre for women empowerment and regular medical camps for local residents. It also operates the Ramlila Sewa Kendra , undertakes heritage conservation projects and has announced a tree plantation drive of 500 saplings on the occasion of Sthapana Diwas.
Purnima Sharma also highlighted the significance of the event and appreciated the dedicated efforts of Nyas in preserving the region’s religious and cultural ethos.
“The Purmandal -Uttar Behni Tirath Seva Nyas exemplifies the spirit of Seva , Sanskrit and Sanatan values. Under the leadership of Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a renewed emphasis on preserving our spiritual heritage and developing key pilgrimage destinations”, she added.
Purnima Sharma also appealed to the devotees , saints and local residents to participate wholeheartedly in the celebrations and seek the divine blessings of Maa Devika.
“This Sthapna Diwas is not merely an event -it is a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to Sanatan Dharma and our sacred heritage. I appeal everyone to join this divine gathering and take part in collective worship” she said.
She expressed the hope that the celebration will draw large number of devotees, scholars and dignitaries across Jammu and adjoining areas.
