JAMMU, Sept 11: The Punjabi transliteration of the Dogri book “Dard Patari” was released in a function held here today at the Department of Dogri, University of Jammu.
The original author of this book is the renowned litterateur Dr Nasib Singh Manhas, while the Punjabi transliteration has been carried out by Amanpreet Kaur, a research scholar of the Department of Punjabi, University of Jammu.
The program was presided over by Padma Shri Mohan Singh, eminent Punjabi writer of international repute Khalid Hussain was the chief guest and distinguished Dogri litterateur Dr Om Goswami was the guest of honour.
Chief guest Khalid Hussain, while congratulating the original author Dr Nasib Singh Manhas and the transliterator Amanpreet Kaur said that now “Dard Patari” would also reach readers of Gurmukhi script worldwide.
In his presidential address, Padma Shri Mohan Singh praised the effort of transliterating the Dogri poetry collection “Dard Patari” into Punjabi and extended his heartfelt congratulations to both the original author Dr. Nasib Singh Manhas and the transliterator Amanpreet Kaur.
Prof Sushma Sharma, Head of the Dogri Department said that the Punjabi transliteration of Dr Nasib Singh Manhas’ Dogri poetry collection “Dard Patari” would serve as a cultural bridge between the literary traditions of Dogri and Punjabi.
All scholars and writers present expressed their views on the book and highlighted its significance.
The program was conducted by Sahil Badyal.
Among others who attended the event included Dr Baljit Raina, Ashok Agurana, Arvinder Aman, Randhir Singh Raipuria, Sunil Sharma, Dr Monojit and Lalita Tapasvi.
