JAMMU, Jan 16: BJP Health and Medical Cell Convener for J&K, Puneet Mahajan here today met Chief Executive Officer (CEO) State Health Agency, Sanjiv M Gadkar and raised the issue of patients’ access to healthcare services under Ayushman Bharat scheme.
During meeting, Mahajan raised concerns over challenges with biometric verification.
He highlighted the problems faced by critically ill and elderly patients especially when the thumb impressions fail during hospital admission and proposed implementing OTP based verification as an alternative for enrolment and benefit access.
Mahajan advocated for including patients with substance abuse histories under Ayushman Bharat Golden Card benefits, particularly those suffering from conditions like alcoholic liver disease.
He pressed for better utilization of operation theatres, particularly in ophthalmology, noting that many surgeries are restricted to limited numbers, leaving the facilities underutilized.
The CEO appealed the Convener to aware the citizens aged 70 and above to come forward and register for the exclusive Rs 5 lakh health insurance top-up available under Ayushman Bharat Scheme and assured due consideration of genuine issues projected during the interaction.
