NEW DELHI, June 23: On his first visit to the union Capital after taking over as the Chief Minister of Puducherry (Pondicherry), V. Narayanasamy today called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh at South Block and discussed a wide range of issues related to the State as well as those connected with the Central Government.
Pertinent to mention that Narayanasamy was union MoS DoPT in the former UPA Government  before the charge of the same Ministry was taken over by Dr Jitendra Singh after the new Government took over.
Dr Jitendra Singh congratulated Narayanasamy on taking over as Chief Minister of Puducherry. He recalled his long association with Puducherry since his student days as a medico in Stanley Medical College, Chennai, when he was a frequent visitor to Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), an institute of national repute which was, at that time, affiliated with the then University of Madras.
Narayanasamy extended Dr Jitendra Singh an invitation to visit Puducherry at any date and time of his convenience.
While humbly accepting the invitation, Dr Jitendra Singh suggested to the Chief Minister that in all these years, Puducherry has attracted visitors from far and wide, primarily for two destinations, namely the Auroville and the Ashram, but with a little more innovative approach, the new State Government can think of several other options to develop it as a popular tourist destination for people from within and outside India. Narayanasamy assured Dr Jitendra Singh that they are already working on these lines and would soon come out with some concrete proposals.
Narayanasamy also fondly recalled his tenure as MoS DoPT and appreciated Dr Jitendra Singh for having carried forward a number of reforms in the Department. He also shared a number of his personal experiences in dealing with Civil Services and General Administration during his tenure as MoS DoPT.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is a matter of pride that  former MoS DoPT is the new Chief Minister of  Puducherry. He requested Narayanasamy to keep in touch and also keep providing his inputs and suggestions without hesitation.
