POONCH, Sept 13: Advocate and PDP leader Nadeem Rafiq Khan today alleged that the so called Government initiative for the participation of local people at block level works was just mere eye wash.
“The issues of general public are not new ones for District Officers of Poonch and we’ll known to them like drinking water, electric supply, Health and motorable roads. These are common demands of rural belts of District Poonch,” he said in a statement, issued here today.
Rafiq Khan said that the people of Balakote Block have had been demanding Trauma Health Centre facility for victims/injured of cross border shelling and firing , completion of Primary Health Centre buildings with appointment of Doctors, black topping of main internal roads connecting to mostly dense populated villages under PWD. “The completion of road from Sandote to Dakbunglow Mendhar for safest reaching out for SDH Mendhar during emergency hours, the left out project of Feeder Station of Power for forward villages of Balakote near ALC needed to be started,” he added while also listing the long pending demand of youths of the area for sports activity, phone connectivity for the Balakote Residents adjoining ALC etc.
The PDP leader alleged that the District officers did not take note of even these old pending demands which were repeatedly submitted by different deputations of Balakote to the concerned authorities. He also drew attention towards bad condition of several roads, including Suran Mendhar Road from Jaranwali Gali to Sangala and Bhimber Gali via Mendhar town to Balnoi area, Sakhimadan Kalai Road etc.
Nadeem Rafiq Khan said that these works of public importance need to be taken up with proper funding so that the same may be completed in time bound manner with proper monitoring. He also demanded enquiry into incomplete pending projects and reasons of delaying. He further stressed that that the agencies engaged in such like public works must be made accountable for the failures.
