JAMMU, Feb 7: A Probationer Sub-Inspector (PSI) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) was found hanging inside his rented accommodation in RS Pura area here today, officials said.

PSI Abid Bashir Pir, son of Bashir Ahmad of Kupwara, at present Ward number 6, RS Pura, who was posted in Police Station RS Pura since May 2025, was spotted hanging at his current accommodation by his landlord around 1: 50 PM, who informed the police, they said.
Accordingly, a team of Police Station RS Pura led by SHO concerned reached the spot and shifted him to Sub-district Hospital RS Pura, where doctors declared him as dead on arrival, officials said.
While the body of the deceased individual has been shifted to the mortuary of the hospital for conducting the post-mortem examination, inquest proceedings have been initiated to further probe into the matter.
