JAMMU, Aug 31: A delegation of Jammu & Kashmir Private Schools Association met with the Pallavi Mishra, Sub Divisional Magistrate Marh to apprise her about the difficulties faced by a private school of Marh due to the devastating flash floods.
President of the association, Ajay Gupta after showing her the photographs of a private school namely Shakti Shiksha Kendra Higher Secondary School expressed a serious concern over irresponsible attitude of administration at the time of severely hit incessant rains and flash floods. He stated that classes at the ground floor were filled with 4 to 5 feet mud along with dangerous aquatic insects and open area of the school remained waterlogged for three consecutive days due to the drain/cannel flowing near the school.
All electronic devices, amplifier, furniture and school buses parked in the school submerged due to the water logging. Essential documents of the school have also been destroyed. Repeated help was demanded by the owner / Principal Lal Chand but no one from the administration came forward for his rescue. The victim of flash flood i.e. Principal was left on the mercy of God which was inhumane and unethical.
Members unanimously demanded five feet increase in height of existing embankment so that water from the nearby cannel may not enter the school premises. They also demanded insecticide spray to sanitize the school premises before it opens.
Pallavi Mishra gave a patient hearing and said that on the same day of devastating flash floods she had assumed the charge of SDM Marh. She assured to increase the height of existing embankment to divert the flow of water from the nearby drain/cannel to curb untoward incident in the near future.
Those who accompanied the delegation included Rameshwar Mengi (Chief Patron JKPSA), Ajay Singh (Vice President JKPSA), Sat Paul Mansotra (General Secretary JKPSA), Rakesh Gupta, Laddi Sharma, Rachpal Singh, Gansara Singh, Naresh Kumar, Rajeev Jasrotia, Rishhek Mengi and Karuneshwar Gandotra.
