KISHTWAR, Nov 4: Senior Congress leader and Member Civil Society Kishtwar, Shamsher Singh Bhandari has demanded immediate compensation to the fire victims of Chaknoi in Ghandhari area of Kishtwar district.
While addressing a meeting of the Civil Society members here, today, Mr Bhandari said that 20 houses were completely destroyed in this hamlet in devastating fire some days ago and in view of approaching Winter these people can’t live in open without a shelter.
He demanded that Government should issue oxidized tin sheets, timber and cement to the people for construction of houses before the onset of Winter. Bhandari said that with the small children and cattle herd these people can’t remain in open for long as it will prove catastrophic for them.
He also appealed the social organizations and civil society members of Kishtwar to come to rescue and assist these people in reconstructing their houses. He also demanded free ration and fodder for cattle be provided to these people for six months.
The other members of Civil Society who addressed the meeting included Ghulam Hussain and Farooq Ahmed Tapal.
