JAMMU, Dec 10: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit has demanded that the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) should provide free langar facilities to the devotees of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi at Jammu and curb the arbitrary pricing of food served at a private restaurant operating in the Vaishnavi Dham of Shrine Board near Jammu Rail Head.
A delegation of party leaders, led by party State chief, Manish Sahni, met with a Shrine Board official Shivani Goel (General Manager) at Kalka Dham here and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Board’s CEO, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, regarding the demands.
Addressing the media, Sahni said that there are three Dhams (Kalka, Saraswati, and Vaishnavi) of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board near Jammu Railway Station, where hundreds of devotees can stay, but there is no provision for free langar. There is an eatery in Kalka Dham where food is served at somewhat affordable prices (Thali for 90 rupees). However, a private restaurant operating in the adjacent Vaishnavi Dham is charging exorbitant prices for the dishes served. Arbitrary prices are being charged for various dishes.
This has caused great resentment among the devotees, who are constantly contacting the party and demanding that their voice be raised against this exploitation.
Chetan Raju Kapoor (Co-Chairman), Balwant Singh (Vice Chairman), and Aditya Mahajan (Secretary) were also present in delegation.
Later talking to reporters Sena chief said he also sought permission during the meeting with Board officials that his organisation be given permission to provide full meal to Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims for Rs 20.
