REASI, Sept 6: Mohd Server Mir, Legal Advisor, International Human Rights Council, J&K and district president Reasi, Global Peace Organisation has urged upon the J&K Administration to provide compensation/ relief to the people affected due to rains, floods and house collapse incidents in Reasi district recently.
Talking to the media-persons here today, Mir raised issues regarding losses of human and animal lives, damage caused to crops, houses, roads and land erosion due to floods in Mahore, Sungri-Chassana, Arnas, Pouni and other parts of district Reasi.
Mir said Sub Division Mahore comprising of Block Mahore, Block Gulab Garh, Block Chassana and Sub Division Dharmari comprising of Block Thuroo, Block Arnas, Block Jij and Block Thakrakote, are comprised of 100 % mountains and dense forest. The people are mainly farmers and shepherd/ nomads.
He pointed out that some people lost lives due to rain and floods while many cattle were perished. He also revealed names of some villages who suffered huge losses. Mir said the lists of the damages have been submitted to the concerned Tehsildars through Patwaris and Naib Tehsildars of the respective areas. These people are very poor and mainly dependent on minor agriculture and cattle. The Government must provide them compensation/ relief for the losses suffered. Even many roads are blocked and massive damage has been caused to them. Same is the position of water and power supply. The Government must come to the rescue of the people.
Mir appealed to the Lt Governor’s Administration and Deputy Commissioner Reasi to provide relief/ compensation to the affected people and also ensure restoration of roads, power and water supply in the areas where ever it has been snaped due to rains and land slides.
