UDHAMPUR, Feb 2: In the matter of much-hyped infant deaths in Ramnagar, Ranbir Singh Pathania, spokesperson J & K BJP, has vouched for adequate monetary and financial aid to the families who have been haphazardly seeking treatment in various hospitals outside the UT. He also sought adequate compensation to the next of kins of the infants who have lost their lives on account of the mysterious disease.
In a statement issued here today he said Pathania said although more than a month has elapsed by since the outbreak of epidemic in Ramnagar claiming 12 precious lives of infants and another half a score infants battling for death in various health institutions within as well as outside the UT, but the administration is still clueless. Nonetheless, a series of press-releases have been got published in a section of newspapers professing constitution of various block, district and UT level teams but nothing concrete has come out in public. But fact remains that neither these teams have been able to find out the exact cause of these infant deaths nor any suitable measures, public sensitization and awareness programmes have been unfolded as yet, he added.
He said in order to escape public wrath and cover up the issue, the Department of Health and Drug Control authorities have been trying to cover up the whole issue by making scapegoat of a local, poor Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP), Ayurvedic Vaids and selling stories and fables of all sorts. Pathania asked the Department Of Health Services to call a spade a spade and come out before the public as to why no action has been taken against delinquent officials at block and district level officers, who were in deep slumber while infant deaths were being reported from Ramnagar and its surroundings till being woken up by media on January 15.
Pathania also conducted an extensive tour of the area while taking stock of public services and day-to-day issues confronted by the people of the area while conducting public interaction camps at Dehma, Jansal, Garh-Dhamma, Kuperla, Bogodh and Ramnagar. He gave a patient hearing to the Teal people and took them with the requisite officers, agencies and vouched for their early and prompt redressal.
Prominent among those who accompanied him included Makhan lal (Chairman,MC Ramnagar), Gopal Singh, Rajinder Sharma(Mandal Pardhans), Sarpanches and Panches of the area.
