POONCH, June 14: The people today held strong protest against police for not taking any action against the accused allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a young woman from Loran in Mandi area.
The family members of one Rubina Akhtar alleged that she has been kidnapped by a relative of local MLA but police was not taking action against the accused persons. They alleged that despite lodging complaint no action has been taken in this connection. The police on the other hand claimed that matter was sub-judice.
Today, the relatives of the woman and locals of the area blocked Loran-Mandi road for about three hours and held strong protest against Police and local MLA from PDP. Reyaz Ahmed, brother of the woman alleged that MLA was putting pressure on the police which has refused to lodge an FIR in this connection.
Later, DySP Hqs Poonch and SDM Mandi went there and they pacified the agitating people. The people demanded removal of SHO immediately. The traffic could be restored after three hours.
