MENDHAR, Oct 6: The people today held strong protest against the PHE authorities for acute shortage of water in the locality near Dak Bungalow in Mendhar town.
The people shouting slogans against the Chief Engineer PHE, Executive Engineer Poonch and Mendhar Sub Divisional authorities came out on the road and raised barricades at around 8 am. They disrupted the movement of traffic for more than two hours on Mendhar-Jammu road. They alleged that about 150 families of this locality adjoining Dak Bungalow were facing water crisis for the last more than two weeks. Many pipes have been broken and there is massive water leakage. The concerned field staff was informed but no measures have been taken so far.
Later, Naib Tehsildar Aftab Hussain Shah and SHO Mendhar arrived there and they took up the matter with the concerned AEE. On the assurance of the Administration, then the people lifted dharna at around 10.30 am.
