Protest in Rajouri, people take out candle march

RAJOURI, Dec 11: The people from Tandwal and adjoining areas held strong protest and took out candle- march up to Nagesh bridge in protest against the police for its alleged failure to trace the vehicle even after 50 days of the road accident in which a young bike rider was killed.
About 150 people including family members and relatives of the deceased Adarash Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Tandwal today took out a candle march from the village and moved towards Rajouri town. They were demanding arrest of the accused driver of the unknown Tata Sumo vehicle which hit the bike- rider Adarash Kumar killing him on the spot on October 18, 2015.
The people had held strong protest on that day with the dead body on the road but the senior police officers and Tehsildar had assured agitating people to trace the vehicle and its driver shortly. The police was also given some description by few locals of the area about vehicle. After 52 days, the Rajouri police failed to trace the vehicle and solve case. Kapil Saral was leading the protest today. The villagers warned the police to trace the vehicle and solve the case within three days failing which they will go for the `gherao of SSP Rajouri and DIG Rajouri-Poonch. They also threatened to block Jammu-Poonch highway to lodge their protest against police.
It is pertinent to mention here that even a young workshop mechanic from Mendhar area was murdered near his car in Manjakote area about two months back. He was moving to Jammu to attend a court case and meet his lawyer. The police could not solve the case despite providing some clue about the alleged accused by victim’s brother.
