Protest against SCARD Bank

SUNDERBANI, Aug 4: A strong protest was held today by the accounts holders/ customers of the Jammu and Kashmir State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development (JKSCARD) Bank branch at Sunderbani.
The account holders said that despite the transactions and maturity in the bank for the last five months, the people are not being given their money. The poor and hapless people are very upset.
The protesting bank customers said that if their money is not given by the bank they will block Jammu Poonch highway and stage major protest dharna. Protesters Bhushan Kumar, Babu Ram, Purna Chand, Khetri Devi, Vandana Sharma, Sanjay Kumar, Subhash Chandra and Madan Lal said that they had deposited their hard earned money in this bank by collecting money bit by bit so that they could build a good house, educate their children and get their brothers, sisters and daughters married, but for the last five months the bank people have completely halted the transactions.
They said that this bank is not for the rich, but for the poor people who have saved money bit by bit by working as daily wage labourers and deposited it in this bank as a support for their old age.
These people have sought the intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and DyCM Sunder Choudhary into the matter.
