Protest against PWD for not maintaining Jammu-Akhnoor road

JAMMU, Oct 9: Sarpanches and Panches of block Bhalwal and Mathwar and others today staged a protest demonstration against the PWD authorities for not maintaining Jammu-Akhnoor road via Amb Gharota.
Led by Ex-Sarpanch, Balbir Singh the protesters raised slogans against the Government.
They said that 5 km stretch of the road has not been repaired for about 7 years.
“You can’t drive four-wheeler on this road what to say of driving a two wheeler. The road is full of potholes,” leader of the protest Balbir Singh said adding that condition of road in front of Police Station Gharota is worst.
“About 15 days back Panches and Sarpanches met Divisional Commissioner Jammu in this regard and he had assured to get the road black topped during Navratras but nothing has been done in this regard so far,” a protesting Sarpanches rued.
He also said that the area falls in Nagrota constituency which was represented by now MP Jugal Kishore and by NC leader, Devender Singh Rana.
He further informed that people of the area are also facing problems of electricity and water supply.
Sanjeev Singh, Sarpanch Agour, ex Sarpanch Peeter Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Sohan Singh, Sham Lal Sharma, Abdul Mazid, Partap Singh, Karamveer Singh, Kamal Sharma and others were also present in the protest.
