RAJOURI, June 2: The villagers from Saruti and Chowkian area of Darhal held strong protest demonstration against the failure to restore water supply.
Official sources said that the people from Saruti, Naka and Chowkian came out on the road near Darhal and held protest from 12 noon to 1.15 pm today. Sarpanch Karmat Ullah Malik was leading the protest against PHE department at Chowkian, Darhal for shortage of drinking water.
Sarpanch said the Govt had sanctioned six Water Supply Schemes for the area but concerned contractor did not complete the work. The water pipes are lying at Panchayats. The protestors were raising slogans against XEn, AEE, JE PHE and DC Rajouri.
The people requested the DC Rajouri to intervene into the matter otherwise people from these three villages will reach his office at Rajouri and conduct ‘Gherao’ with in 10 days.
