MENDHAR, Jan 30: The people from Harmutta and Kasyot villages in Mendhar held massive protest demonstration against PDD and PHE authorities and blocked Mendhar-Surankote road for about four hours today.
A large number of villagers came out on the road at around 10 am and then raised barricades. After road blockade near Gursai Nalla, they started protest demonstration. They were raising slogans against PDD and PHE and alleged that people were badly hit with the disruption in the essential services. They shouted slogans against the concerned Ministers, Chief Engineers and the DC.
Later, SDM Mendhar, SHO, Executive Engineer PHE and PDD AEE reached the spot. They gave assurance to the people to restore supplies and also bring improvement in the system. The people then lifted dharna at around 1.45 pm. The movement of vehicles remained suspended on the road for long.
