Prostitution racket busted in Jammu; three women rescued, three held

JAMMU, Mar 7: Police today claimed to have busted a prostitution racket operating from a residential house in Greater Kailash area of Jammu district and rescued three women, including two from Punjab, besides arresting three persons, including a couple, for their alleged involvement in the illegal activity.
A police official said acting on reliable information about immoral activities being carried out from a house in Lane No. 31, Greater Kailash, a police team conducted a raid at the premises of one Amreek Singh.
The raid was carried out by the Incharge Police Post Sainik Colony and SHO Police Station Channi Himmat under the supervision of SDPO City East Sachit Sharma and overall supervision of SP City South Ajay Sharma.
The police official said the premises were allegedly being used for immoral trafficking, where women were procured and induced into prostitution.
During the raid, he said, the police team rescued three women from the house, two of whom belong to Punjab while one is a local resident. Three persons, including a couple, were apprehended from the spot for their alleged involvement in running the racket, he said. In this connection, a case FIR No. 62/2026 under Sections 3, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 has been registered at Police Station Channi Himmat and further investigation is underway.
