Proposal For New Bridge Near Convent School Srinagar Under Examination; DPR Worth ₹143.89 Crore Submitted For Concurrence: J&K Govt

JAMMU, Feb 18: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday informed the House that the proposal for construction of a new bridge near Convent School and the General Post Office (GPO) in Srinagar is currently under examination with the Public Works (R&B) Department.
The information was provided in a written reply to a question, raised by MLA Sheikh Ahsan Ahmed regarding the status of the proposed bridge project, the government said, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of a VOP/Bridge/Flyover from Convent Road (Joggers Park) to M.A. Link Road via Sherwani Road over River Jhelum has been prepared after conducting the requisite feasibility and technical surveys.
The estimated cost of the project has been pegged at Rs 143.89 crore. The DPR has been submitted to the Finance Department for concurrence.
Further steps in the project will be taken following the necessary approvals, the government stated. (KNC)
