Property worth Rs 86 lakh of drug smuggler seized

KATHUA, Sept 18: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua district today seized property worth Rs 86 lakh belonging to a drug smuggler in Mathura Chak Marheen area of the district.
The attached assets include a double-storey house, a tractor with trolley, and a Mahindra load carrier, owned by Aslam Din, son of Teg Ali, and his close relatives.
Police said the property was identified as illegally acquired during investigations into narcotics trade.
They said that inquiries revealed the assets were raised through proceeds of drug trafficking.
The seizure was carried out in the presence of revenue officers under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985, police said.
They added that action against drug peddlers will continue in order to dismantle the networks involved in narcotics smuggling.
