Property of notorious drug peddler attached

UDHAMPUR, Feb 20: Udhampur Police has attached an immovable property worth Rs one crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler Amjad Hussain, son of Manzoor Ahmed of Housing Colony, Udhampur, under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
Earlier, the accused was detained under the PITNDPS Act and lodged in District Jail Kishtwar after a warrant of detention was issued by the competent authority vide Order No. PITNDPS 06 of 2026 dated 17-02-2026.
During the course of financial investigation, it came to fore that there were sufficient grounds to believe that the property acquired by the accused was derived from proceeds of illicit narcotics trade.
Accordingly, one residential house along with land measuring 01 Kanal 09 Marlas situated at Housing Colony Udhampur has been freezed/seized under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
Meanwhile, two inter-district drug peddlers were held with heroin in Tikri area when a white i20 car bearing Registration No. JK05J-1009, which was coming from Jammu towards Srinagar side was intercepted.
The accused were identified as Mehraj Ul Bashir (driver) son of Bashir Ahmed Malik of Ushkara, Baramulla and Basharat Ahmed Ganie, son of Ghulam Mohd Ganie of Tirkanjan, Boniyar, Baramulla.
A total of 26.04 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession. FIR No. 37/2026 U/S 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Rehambal.
