KISHTWAR, Dec 29: Prompt action by the Police here today calmed a law and order situation in Pullar, Tehsil Nagsansi area.
As per Police, yesterday, Police Post Padyarna, District Kishtwar, received information regarding an alleged conflict between members of two communities at Pullar, Tehsil Nagsansi.
“Immediate investigation revealed that the incident involved a minor scuffle between two parties arising out of a pre-existing dispute over unintentional damage to a Madrasa pit during the collection of firewood,” a handout of Police stated adding: “In this regard, an FIR with No. 262/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation started.”
Meanwhile, a misleading video related to the incident was circulated on social media with the intention of giving the matter a communal angle and provoking public unrest.
Taking cognizance of the same, a separate case in FIR No. 263/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered and one Waseem Ahmed, son of Mohd Iqbal Butt, resident of Berwar, Kishtwar, was detained for spreading false and provocative contents on social media.
The handout further stated that the overall situation in the area remained peaceful and under complete control. Police was maintaining close vigil and further investigation was underway.
District administration has advised the public to remain calm and refrain from sharing unverified information and rely solely on official sources for updates.
