Promote J&K as round the year tourist destination: Priya

NEW DELHI Oct 6: Providing assurances of resolute support to the travel trade fraternity, Priya Sethi, MoS Tourism presided over the closing ceremony of 3-day long Bharat International Tourism Bazaar (BITB) at Pragati Maidan, here
While speaking on the occasion, she said that travel is a new religion for the people around the world which creates global citizen beyond the boundaries auguring well with  this year’s  theme of World Tourism of “Inclusive Tourism”.
She appealed to all stake holders to promote J&K as round the year tourist destination keeping in view the rich cultural diversity which three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh offer to the tourists from all strata of the society.
Describing Ladakh a place worth visiting multiple times to have breathtaking experience of Trekking, Jeep Safaari, River Rafting and much more, she said that while Goa and Rajasthan are popular wedding destinations during the winters, Kashmir is ideal wedding destination during summers”.
Citing Jammu as pilgrimage destination visited by 10 million pilgrims a year, she requested the travel trade to extend the stay of pilgrims by a day or two by including the nearby destinations Bhaderwah in their itinerary.
Sushma Chauhan, Director Tourism Jammu during her closing address invited those present among the audience for the darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi during the ongoing 9 days Navratra Festival and also to explore the Myriad options of religious and pilgrimage tourism potential of the region.
Among others F A. Shah, Secretary Tourism, J&K, Mehmood Ahmad Shah, Director Tourism Kashmir, Shamim Ahmad Wani, MD JK Cable Car Corp and Er. S.K. Attri Dy. Dir Tourism , Jammu were also present on the occasion.
