Prof Pirzada takes over as Director Institute of Kashmir Studies

SRINAGAR, Aug 10: Professor Pirzada Mohammad Amin from Department of Sociology, University of Kashmir, has taken over the charge of Director at the Institute of Kashmir Studies.
The Institute being a premier area study centre at University of Kashmir, has a pivotal role in formulation of policy and interdisciplinary research and also offers the MA Program in Anthropology.
A noted Sociologist, Prof Pirzada has more than two decades of teaching, research, and administrative experience, after an earlier stint as a KPS officer 1999 batch. In his administrative roles in the university, Prof Pirzada has served as the founder Head, Department of Social Work, University of Kashmir and Head, Department of Sociology.
Prof Pirzada has an extensive experience on policy research and has been an architect of policy formulation for reservation for Pahari community of J&K being the head of the committee constituted by Government of India. He is also heading the Committee for determining the reservation for Koli and Chopan community of J&K.
