Jammu, Mar 28: Three books penned by late. Prof. Om Prakash Gupt were released in a function organized by Yuva Hindi Lekhak Sangh, Jammu today. Dr. Lal Chand Gupta, Ex. Prof Kurukshetra University was the chief guest in the function held at University of Jammu.
The first book “Toshi Tatha Anya Kavitain” is a collection of poems, the second “Vyangya Par Ek Bahas” contained essays on satirical writing in Hindi Literature and the third “Purakhyano Ka Mayavi Sansar”explored relations between mythology, philosophy and literature.
On this occasion Prof. Lal Chand showered praise on multi-faceted personality of Prof. Gupt. Prof. Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu described Dr. Gupt as a man of high intellect and vision. She said that Dr. Gupt mentioned in his book “Purakhyano Ka Mayavi Sansar” that each Shakti Peeth is responsible for giving birth to one alphabet of Devnagari script.
Dr. Ashok Kumar said “Vyangya Par Ek Bahas” is a seminal work in the field of satire in which Dr. Gupt has established that a literator is more sensitive than other human subjects and for this reason we find him easily influenced by social inconsistencies, social imbalances, social discrepancies and misconduct.
In his presidential address, Dr. Pran Nath Trisal recollected the late writer’s large heartedness, zeal and mastery of both Hindi and English languages.He opined that in his book “Toshi Aur Anya Kavitayen” Dr. Gupt has maintained his commitment toward cultural aspect of life in poetry.
The event was graced by prominent Hindi writers and thinkers of Jammu. Dr. Parvinder Kour presented vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Dr. Anju Thapa.
