Sir,
The All India Radio, Poonch station was established October 4, 1994 by the then Internal Security Minister Rajesh Pilot not only as a source of entertainment but also to update people with the latest happenings in the world. Simultaneously, VVLPT (very very low power transmitter) was also brought up in this remote area because before that Pakistan T.V. signals were coming frequently to this side. More than 20 years are over but the condition is still the same. The transmission gets started at 3 p.m. and gets closed at 10 pm night which means only 7 hrs broadcast. The Ministry of I&B had announced morning transmission for the district Poonch, Kathua, Bhaderwah six years back, but there is no morning transmission in district Poonch while as it is running successfully in other two districts. On the contrary, our neighbourer Pakistan has set up three F M channels which are running whole day and they have erected towers near LoC where our soldiers are protecting our land. As far as our transmission is concerned, Poonch district comprises of three tehsils- Mendhar, Surankote and Haveli. The signal reaches other two tehsils except Haveli.
Our request to the authorities is if our neighbour’s signal can come across LoC why our signal can’t reach our own areas. The matter needs to be looked into seriously. The station is also facing dearth of engineers and other staff which is the basic foundation of any area.
Yours etc…
