Priya releases annual magazine of GHSS Canal Road

JAMMU, May 25:  Underlining commitment of the Government to improve performance of education institutions, Minister of State for Education, Culture and Information Priya Sethi said the new dispensation is working on a comprehensive policy to revive the Education Department at all levels and all out efforts have been initiated to bring back the faith of public in Government schools.
She said positive trend has been seen in the recent results as number of top positions has gone to Government schools and all out efforts have to be made by the teaching fraternity to improve the performance of Government schools.
“Government schools have good human resource and infrastructure and need of the hour is to motivate and reorient the working so that these institutions become hub of good education,” she added.
The Minister was speaking at the annual magazine release function of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Canal road, here today. The annual number – Creations is a joint effort by the school to showcase the achievements in the field of academics, sports and extra-curricular activities.
CEO, Jammu Joginder Sudan, Principal Dr. Kuldip Sharma, Ashish Sareen, parents, prominent citizens and members of staff of the school attended the annual event.
Priya also inaugurated Library block of the school.
The Minister said time has come when those involved in the pious profession of education have to give their best to the field and it has to be ensured that the Government run schools give better results compared the private institutions.
Priya said counseling centers would be established in the Government schools and students would be advised as per their performance and potentialities, adding that each child is unique and special care needs to be taken to identify the strong points so that the student can be guided for future depending upon his capabilities.
The Chief Education Officer called upon the school administration to encourage students for taking part in literary activities by forming literary clubs so that the culture of reading and writing is developed among the students.
