JAMMU, Apr 28: Saying that education is basic tool for all-round development of the society, the Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi has called upon the teaching community to mould students with modern and scientific education to enable them to face the challenges ahead.
The Minister was interacting with the teachers during her visit to Higher Secondary School Sohal, Government Higher Secondary Jourian, Government Middle School Jourian in Akhnoor and Chamb constituencies.
Vice Chairman Kissan Advisory Board Daljeet Singh Chib, MLA Chamb, Dr. Krishan Lal, Director School Education Jammu, CEO, Dy. CEO besides other senior officers also accompanied the Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said education being a priority sector receives focused attention of the Government, adding that efforts are being made to improve and upgrade education standard at Primary, Middle, High and Higher Secondary level particularly in far-off areas of the State.
She impressed upon the teachers to impart moral and value based education to the students for better perceptive and high discipline which in turn bring positive and innovative thoughts in them. She asked the students to take part in extracurricular activities side by academics to keep themselves physically and mentally fit. She also underlined the need to increase enrollment in Government schools as these schools have highly qualified and trained staff.
Responding to the demands of inadequate staff, infrastructure in educational institutions of the area, the Minister said that Government is abreast of all the genuine requirements/demands and same would be redressed in due course of time.
The Minister expressed grave concern over the mismanagement of Kendriya Vidyalaya School at Maley where students are studying in tented classes. She directed Principal to shift the school to adjacent building at Maley within a week’s time so that the students do not suffer during the summer season.
