JAMMU, Oct 6: Lambasting the NC leader and MLA, Habba Kadal Shamima Firdose for accusing BJP and RSS of the killing of two NC workers in Habba Kadal, Srinagar yesterday, former Minister and BJP State spokesperson, Priy Sethi said that the statement of NC leader is totally based on ignorance and her desperation.
In a statement issued here, today, Priya Sethi said that it was the National Conference and Congress which rigged the elections in 1987 with the result the people of Kashmir lost the faith in democratic set up and they took to arms and brought the Kashmir Valley to present mess.
Sethi, while ridiculing the statement said it is not known on what ground the NC leader was holding BJP and RSS responsible for the killings. She said it is unfortunate that the NC instead of participating in elections has done a Himalayan blunder after boycotting the same as the party was never interested that the elections to basic institutes of democracy should be held in the State because it affected hegemony of the dynastic party leadership.
She said NC -Congress which ruled the State for over five decades did not held elections to the Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats during their term and always sabotaged them with the result the people at grass root level remained alienated for years together. Had the election to the basic institutes of democracy been held in time and after a gap of every five years as was done in rest of the country, the people in Kashmir would have not been distanced from the democratic process and their faith in democratic institutes would have increased.
Priya said it is unfortunate that the two dynastic parties never realized this as they wanted to maintain the hegemony of their families and relatives on political setup there by distancing the people from main stream. She said NC-Congress is notorious for rigging the elections in the State right from 1951 while it was the BJP Government led by Vajpayee in 2004 and later Narendra Modi Government in 2014 which ensured free and fair elections in the State.
Hence before leveling allegations on BJP and RSS leadership, the NC Legislator should have an introspection about the dubious role played by her party and its political ally Congress till date.
By holding elections to basic institutes of democracy BJP wants to restore faith of people in Valley in the democratic set up and bring the misguided youth in the mainstream.
