Private Universities Bill historic reform: PSA

SRINAGAR, Apr 5: The Private Schools’ Association (PSA) today termed the passage of the J&K Private Universities Bill, as a “historic and progressive reform.”
In a statement issued here, the PSA said that the move will transform the region’s higher education landscape by opening new avenues for innovation, research and investment.
The Association noted that the legislation, piloted by the Omar Abdullah-led Government and Education Minister Sakeena Itoo, would expand academic opportunities and improve access to quality education for students across J&K.
PSA president Bilal Ahmad Bhat said the law would enhance the academic ecosystem and create broader opportunities for students and institutions, adding that it would promote healthy competition and align the education sector with global standards.
Senior vice president and chief spokesperson Manzoor Ahmad Rather said the legislation marks the beginning of a new era in higher education, while general secretary Mohammad Syed Wani said it has generated renewed optimism within the academic community.
Association’s Hilal Ahmad Khan said the move is expected to attract investment and strengthen financial sustainability in the education sector.
