JAMMU, June 22: One -day inter-State conference of Private schools was held here today under the banner of J&K Private School Association, Jammu, led by its president Kamal Gupta.
The special invitees in the conference were Kulbhushan Sharma, president NISA; Showkat Chowdhary, president JKJCCPS Srinagar along with representative of CBSE schools and all district heads of PSA Jammu division. More than 250 representatives of different districts participated.
General secretary of the Association Ajay Gupta briefed about agenda of the meeting, which included challenge and threat to the budget Private schools due to the enforcement of “Draft National Educational Policy (NEP) 2019”.
The members from different districts showed serious concern towards “NEP-2019” alleging that the new policy of the Central Government is meant to encroach the internal autonomy of Private schools at all the levels. The members were of the opinion that this type of unwarranted attitude of the Central Government will promote the ‘Inspector Raj’ and open an additional channel of corruption at all the stages.
Showkat Chowdhary, president JKJCCPS Srinagar demanded immediate review of “NEP- 2019” for the larger interest of private school as the approach of this policy is anti private schools in certain cases. Kulbhushan Sharma, president of National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA) said that the Government was trying to make harsh and complicated rules to dominate those who are rendering yeomen services by charging nominal fee.
Kamal Gupta demanded that Government should come out with the clear cut policy to support the low budget Private Schools which are being run by the unemployed only. He demanded uniform application of all policies by the Government for tutorials, coaching centers, hobby centers and tuition centers etc .
The participating members demanded either grant aid to all unaided private schools or drop the provision of school management committee (SMC) from chapter 7 & 8 of “NEP-2019”. They also appealed to the Government of India to extend the last date for filing the objections of ‘NEP-19’.
