Private school teachers demand minimum wages

JAMMU Apr 4: A meeting of the J&K Private School Teachers Association Jammu held under the chairmanship of Vijay Dutta its president discussed the various issues confronting the private school teachers.
While addressing the meeting, Dutta said that teachers are the builders of the nation and in present time the private schools teachers are playing very significant role in making future of children in comparison to Government run schools but in terms of remuneration private school teachers are not being paid even equal to minimum wages. He said even the schools are not providing chairs to the teachers while attending the classes and due to this female teachers are facing number of health related issues as they are supposed to remain in standing posture for minimum six hours
Union also criticized the State Government that while fixing fee structure for students vide its Order No 01.FFCof 2019 dated 28.1.2019, it ignored the teaching community as there is not any provision or guideline about the wages and other facilities to take care of teachers.
It said private schools charges numbers of miscellaneous funds from the students without proper receipts and create wealth for themselves and school managements are sucking the blood of innocent teachers
The Association urged to the Governor of the State to intervene in the matter and ensure justice to private school teachers. It urged him to issue directives to Education Department for framing guide lines for fixing wages / emoluments for private schools teachers and non teaching staff and extension of other statuary benefits under law so that exploitations of teaching community can be averted which this will pave the ways of employment of educated youths.
In the meeting Darshan Singh, vice president, Sawarn Singh general secretary, Jagdish Chander, Ashok Bakshi, Ashu Sharma, Sunita Gupta, Manmohan Singh and HarbansChoudhary were present.
