JAMMU, Dec 11: Principal and Dean, Government Ayurvedic Medical College (GAMC) Jammu, Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma attended the 9th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) and Arogya Expo 2022 held at Panjim, Goa from December 8 to 11.
The main objective of WAC is to provide a global platform for all the stakeholders, including industrial leaders, practitioners, traditional healers, educationists, students, medicine manufacturers, growers of medicinal plants etc.
As per the directions of National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), it was mandatory for all the Principals of Government Ayurvedic Medical Colleges of India to attend this WAC at Panjim Goa.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated three national Ayush institutes viz. All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM), Ghaziabad and National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH), Delhi to the Nation during this Expo.
It is pertinent to mention here that the World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) is a platform established by the World Ayurveda Foundation to propagate Ayurveda globally in its true sense. It is the largest gathering of its kind for exploring new frontiers in the field of medicine, which started in 2002 at Kochi, Kerala. Global community actively participates in this Congress with great enthusiasm and high expectations.
WAC attracts people from all disciplines to present their research works related to Ayurveda and allied sciences.The Government also plans to roll out a ‘One Nation, One Health System’ policy by 2030, which would integrate modern and traditional systems of medicine like allopathy, homoeopathy and Ayurveda in medical practice, education and research.
Principal, GAMC, Jammu emphasized to adopt Ayurveda not only for treatment but also for prevention of disease process, so that the burden of disease in the Society can be decreased.
She said that a similar event will be organized in the coming time at Government Ayurvedic Medical College Akhnoor in collaboration with all the Ayurvedic Institutes of Jammu and Kashmir.
