SRINAGAR, Jan 6: The executive members of the Press Club of Kashmir held an emergency meeting today at their office in Amira Kadal, Srinagar, to mourn the passing of Shamim Akhtar, the elder sister of Ayaz Hafiz Gani, the Editor-in-Chief of Rising Kashmir.
During the meeting, President of the Press Club, M Saleem Pandit and other members expressed their heartfelt condolences to Ayaz Hafiz Gani and his family. They prayed for the departed soul and sought Jannat-ul-Firdous for her.
President Pandit also visited the grieving family to extend condolences on behalf of the entire journalist fraternity in the Kashmir valley and their colleagues from Jammu. Shamim Akhtar had been unwell before her passing, which occurred on January 4, 2025, at a hospital in New Delhi after a brief illness.
