President Murmu confers SCOPE Eminence Awards to PSEs

NEW DELHI, Aug 30: President of India Droupadi Murmu today conferred the SCOPE Eminence Awards at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, in a ceremony organized by the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) with the support of the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Ministry of Finance.
As per a statement, the event was attended by Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Secretary DPE K Moses Chalai, Chairman SCOPE KP Mahadevaswamy, Director General SCOPE Atul Sobti, senior officials, heads of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), and representatives of partner organizations.
Speaking on the occasion, President Murmu said the awards celebrate the contribution of PSEs to India’s development, noting their strong performance across social, economic, environmental, technological, and ethical fronts.
She praised SCOPE for recognizing achievements in areas such as women empowerment, sustainable development, corporate governance, CSR and innovation.
Highlighting the role of CPSEs in Aatm Nirbhar Bharat and Make in India, she said they are vital for economic development and social inclusion, and expressed confidence in their role towards making India a developed nation by 2047.
Minister Pankaj Chaudhary said the public sector has consistently played a strategic role in nation-building and continued to deliver even during crises.
Secretary DPE K Moses Chalai underlined that CPSEs directly employ about 15 lakh people while supporting millions of livelihoods indirectly, stressing the need for competitiveness in a changing ecosystem.
Chairman SCOPE KP Mahadevaswamy said CPSEs have facilitated sustainable development and remain high on the trust index.
Director General Atul Sobti welcomed the President and emphasized that PSEs have become globally recognized contributors to India’s socio-economic growth, with SCOPE acting as a catalyst for a self-reliant and prosperous Bharat.
