UDHAMPUR, Jan 12: To address the problems, which are being faced by the women in Mongri area, the former councillor Preeti Khajuria visited here today.
Preeti listened to their grievances and assured swift resolution of their issues.
During her interaction, the local women raised the issue of lack of college in their area, due to which most of the girls has to leave their studies after 12th standard. Moreover, due to non-availability of the college, parents are unable to send their girls to Udhampur city for getting higher education.
Speaking on the occasion, Preeti said that in view of these problems, which are being faced by the women in this area, the slogans given by the Government of women empowerment are proven to be just a slogan.
She said, “I’m “deeply disappointed” because despite a historical mandate, with absolute majority, the Government has failed to use its power to empower women.”
“False promises made by the Government push women backwards, not forward. Due to which the family and society are unable to move forward. No matter how much noise the Government makes to promote girl education, the truth is telling something else,” she added.
Preeti further demanded from the Jammu & Kashmir Government that the demand for a college in the Mongri area should be fulfilled as soon as possible, so that the future of women living in this area does not go into darkness.
