JAMMU, Feb 6: A delegation from Praagash, the organizing body of the First Global Kashmiri Pandit Heritage Tour, scheduled to take place from June 6 to June 14 this year met with the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha here, today.
The delegation was led by Kashi Akhoon, coordinator, GKPD, along with Sanjay Kaul, president, AMEAK.
The delegation informed the LG this landmark initiative includes a two-day Global Conference to be held on 13-14 June at SKICC, Srinagar, Kashmir. Nearly 1,000 members of the Kashmiri Hindu community, including a large number of youth participants, are expected to attend.
It said the tour aims at to facilitate visits to religious and cultural heritage sites across the Kashmir Valley, strengthen community bonds, reconnect participants with their ancestral roots and promote cultural preservation and global engagement.
The delegation sought the blessings and support of the Lieutenant Governor for this historic initiative. The Lt. Governor warmly welcomed the group, expressing appreciation for their efforts to preserve and promote Kashmiri Pandit heritage.
During the meeting, the organizers formally presented the official invitation and a detailed itinerary of the Heritage Tour to the Lieutenant Governor.
It may be recalled that six prominent Kashmiri Pandit community organizations have come together to jointly organize this unprecedented heritage initiative. They included
GKPD (Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora), KOA USA, (Kashmir Overseas Association), JKVM (Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch), AMEAK (All Migrant Employees Association Kashmir), YAIKS (Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj) and KPA Mumbai (Kashmiri Pandit Association).
The Heritage Tour Committee has commenced the process of sending formal invitations, with the first invitation extended to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.
