JAMMU, May 5: Police Post Phallain Mandal in Jammu South Zone seized seven tractor trolleys and one dumper engaged in unauthorized mining activities under Operation Ploughing.
A police official said the vehicles were intercepted and taken into custody, with District Mineral Officer (DMO), Jammu informed for further legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, Police Post Belicharana seized one tractor trolley loaded with boulders and one JCB machine involved in illegal mining from the riverbed of Tawi.
“The timely intervention prevented further damage to the river ecosystem. The DMO has been informed for necessary legal action,” said the police official.
He said Police Post Gadigarh also seized one tractor trolley involved in illegal transportation of mined material and started further legal proceedings into the matter.
According to him, the entire operations were carried out under the supervision of SP South, Ajay Sharma, SDPO East, SDPO South and the overall directions of SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh.
