JAMMU, May 26: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited  organised an awareness programme on Solid & Liquid Resource Management for its employees and their family members.  C.Srinivasan, Project Director India Green Service (IGS), Vellore, Tamilnadu was the resource faculty for this awareness Programme .
During this awareness programme  C.Srinivasan  gave a detailed presentation on of Solid and Liquid Resource Management (SLRM). He emphasized that it should not be called solid waste management or liquid waste management but as solid resource management or liquid resource management, because the so-called waste is not a waste at all, but a resource that fetches income.
Mr Srinivasan who was responsible for popularising throughout the country what is now known as the ‘Vellore model’ in SLRM said that the most effective way of managing the solid and liquid resources was to implement a decentralised process of disposing of the wastes wherein the wastes generated by different categories of service providers could be separately composted or safely disposed of by associations of the respective service-providers. All that the local body has to do is to give them a site for safe disposal/composting of the wastes and the technology to do it. This decentralised process would relieve the local bodies of the bother of having to identify a vast common site, collect the huge wastes generated by all the service providers and dump them at one place, he said. Later Srinivasan visited the campus of the Powergrid Township and appreciated the upkeep and beauty of the colony.
Executive Director Powergrid Northern Region-II,  Anil Jain , all senior officers and employees posted at its Regional Head quarters at Jammu  including members of Shrishti Mahila Samiti attended this awareness Programme.  Astt. Commissioner(R) Jammu Municipal Corporation, Ms. Subah Mehta  was also present on this occasion.
