Potato futures up 1.46 pc on high spot demand

NEW DELHI, Feb 4: Potato prices rose by Rs 12.70 to Rs 878.50 per quintal in futures trade today, largely supported by pick-up in spot markets demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for April month contract rose by Rs 12.70, or 1.46 per cent, to Rs 878.50 per quintal, with a trading volume of 35 lots.
The delivery for the March contract also traded higher by Rs 10.60, or 1.22 per cent, to Rs 873.50 per quintal with a business volume of 79 lots.
Marketmen said the rise in potato prices at futures trade was due to rising spot demand.
Restricted arrivals into the spot markets from producing belts in UP, Punjab, MP and West Bengal also influenced the prices, they said. (PTI)
