DODA, Apr 8: Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha, J&K, has reiterated its demand for political reservation to Gujjars and Bakkerwals for the upliftment of the downtrodden Schedule Tribe community of the State.
Addressing a gathering of Gujjars and Bakkerwals at block Bhagwa, Bhimna in district Doda, Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha president, Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal said that Gujjars and Bakkerwals of the State particularly, those residing in Chenab Valley, have been facing Government’s apathy and neglect as a result of which the community still lags behind in all spheres including development, education, health, jobs and other sectors.
Demanding that road from Doda to Kapran be constructed at the earliest for the convenience of people residing in remote areas, he urged Government to hold on spot recruitment drives for the middle pass youth of the ST community in remote areas.
On the occasion, Poswal appointed Mohd Latief as Doda district president of Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha and Mohd Amin as district president, Ramban.
