JAMMU, Aug 30: Poonch boys prevailed over Jammu boys in summit clash and lifted the title in Under-17 Boys Hockey Tournament, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at KK Hakhu Stadium, here.
In the final, Poonch defeated Jammu by three goals to one (2-1) in a close contest and Ramandeep Singh was the star performer for the winners who pelted both the goals.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Poonch blanked Srinagar by (3-0), while Jammu thrashed Baramulla by six goals to one (6-1).
Meanwhile in hockey Under-17 girls, Jammu drubbed Poonch by two goals to nil (2-0). Simran and Pooja of Jammu scored one goal each.
The matches were officiated by Amarjeet Singh, Harvinder Singh, Matinder Pal Singh, Mandeep Singh, Jarnail Singh, Varinder Sharma and Raman.
Gymanstics and Taekwondo events were also held during the competition.
Pawandeep Kour of Jammu bagged gold in Rhythmic Gymnastics Under-14 girls event by securing 35.60 points, while Mehak of Jammu got silver and Nandani of Jammu bagged bronze by scoring 32.90 and 30.10 points respectively.
In Rhythmic Under-17 girls event, Dhawani Sharma and Shipran, both from Jammu bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while in Under-14 girls Artistic Gymnastics, Suneha Dewan of Jammu claimed gold by securing 6.80 points, Bableen Kour of Jammu clinched silver by securing 6.50 points and Tanu Baloria of Jammu got bronze by securing 6.40 points.
Taekwondo Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 boys and girls events were also held during the day.
