POONCH, Aug 12:The Poonch District Volleyball Association has elected new office bearers in an election conducted under the supervision of Krishan Lal Sharma, retired Divisional Sports Officer of the J&K Sports Council and former Secretary of the Association, here today.
As per handout issued the election was held in strict compliance with the Model Election Guidelines of the Sports Code-2011 issued by the J&K Sports Council and Volleyball Association of J&K. Twelve affiliated volleyball clubs from across the district participated in the voting process. Officials described the proceedings as transparent, smooth, and ensuring fair representation for all stakeholders.
The office bearers elected unanimously include Dr. Udesh Pal Sharma as President; Ab Majeed Dar and Imtiaz Salaria as Vice-Presidents; Mohd Tariq as Secretary; Nirdosh Kumar Sharma as Treasurer; and Balkrishan Sharma and Deepak Sharma as Joint Secretaries, along with other executive members.
After the elections, the newly formed body nominated senior volleyball legend and former national player Krishan Lal Sharma as Chairman in recognition of his contribution to the sport.
The new leadership pledged to work towards the promotion and development of volleyball in Poonch, with a focus on grassroots talent and creating more opportunities for local players.
