SRINAGAR, Mar 9: The Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) today launched a cleanliness drive to clear water channels of Dal Lake, warning action against violators.
A day after taking charge, the Vice Chairman LCMA Shahid Saleem urged residents living near the lake and its channels to cooperate in the effort.
He warned that strict action would be taken against violators under the Damage to Public Property Act.
Additionally, VC said, fines will be imposed on polluters as per the ‘Polluter Pays’ principle.
Earlier, Shahid conducted an extensive tour of the area in and around Dal Lake, during which he instructed officers of LCMA to remain committed to preserving the iconic lake.
